As the Lovettsville Elementary School Parent Liaison, I work as a school representative who acts as an advocate for parents and families.

Being a parent is a challenging, demanding, sometimes frustrating, and yet wonderfully rewarding job.  As the mother of five, I know how hard and even lonely it can sometimes be to do the best we can for our children.  Here at Lovettsville School, we have caring and devoted staff and know that our involvement as parents is welcomed, appreciated, and valued.  But sometimes school expectations and procedures can seem confusing or daunting, or the problems we face at home can seem overwhelming.

As Parent Liaison, I am ready to assist you.  I will listen to your concerns and work with you to make sure your question, situation, or point of view is addressed and understood.  I  can facilitate school conferences and work with you to explore strategies to assist you in helping your child.  I can guide and support you in accessing community resources, or accompany you to appointments, or provide transportation as needed.  If you are new to the area, I can answer questions and aid you during this time of transition.  Lovettsville School and the PTO have a host of activities to involve you, and I can help you find what fits your interest and schedule.

At Lovettsville School, every child matters and every parent matters, too.  As the Parent Liaison, I am dedicated to empowering you to become involved, stay informed and play an active role in your child's education and school experience.  Please call me if you think I might be of help.  I serve all twelve schools of the Loudoun Valley High School Cluster so I have limited hours at Lovettsville,  but please leave me a message if you are unable to reach me. • The Parent Liaison will answer questions you may have about school rules, procedures, and  regulations.            
• She will discuss how you might become more involved with the school in ways that fit your needs and schedule.
• She can take you on a tour
  of the school, highlight programs, and explain resources for you and your child.
• She can describe the numerous volunteer opportunities available.

• The Parent Liaison can help arrange meetings between you and your child's teachers, the principal or other staff to discuss your concerns, share information and explore strategies.
• She can help you formulate questions and clarify your point of view.
• At your request, the Parent Liaison can accompany you to a parent/teacher meeting or other important meetings to help explain information about your child and home situation.
• She will help arrange for an interpreter if you are more comfortable communicating in a language other than English.

• The Parent Liaison can identify and explore community resources to help you find where to go for special help.
• She can aid you in making appointments, accessing services and accompany you to meetings if desired.
• She can assist with transportation when necessary.
• She can help with physical needs such as food and clothing.
• She can visit you at home to discuss school-related issues.
