Meet Your ELL Teachers!
Ms. Sarah A. Loredo - Kindergarten ELL Teacher
Originally from Bolivia, earned a Masters on the Sciece of Teaching Reading at Shenandoah University in June of 2012. I attained my ELLTeaching Certificate and my undergraduate degree in Mass Media and Communications at George Mason University. I taught at FHR K-5 ELL from 2008 to 2012 and now focus on the teaching of K-ELL. For the five years prior, I taught the Guilford Gators in the Sterling Park area. Before that, for five years I worked in Ashburn, at Broad Run High School assisting in the teaching of the ELL Spartans. I am involved with live interpreting and literature translation from English to Spanish in my local congregation in Countryside, Sterling, Virginia.
I have worked at FHR with children as a teaching assistant for the past three years and prior to that as a substitute teacher. Last year was my first year as an ELL K-5 Teaching Assistant. This coming year I will be assisting with the K ELL students, and I am looking forward to assisting these children. I am a graduate of Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York with a degree in Psychology. I have traveled extensively and I enjoy learning about different cultures. In my spare time I love to read, power walk, play tennis, and spend time with my husband and two boys. I live in Leesburg and my youngest son attends Harper Park Middle School and my oldest son goes to Heritage High School.
I am very excited to be part of the ELL team at FHR this year. While I am new to FHR, this is my twelfth year of teaching. I spent the past three years as an ELL teacher at Sterling Elementary School. I began my teaching career in Alexandria, VA where I taught middle school ELL for five years before becoming a teacher specialist for two years. I have worked with first through fifth grade ELL students as well as seventh and eighth grade ELL students, across all content areas and at all levels of English language acquisition, from basic to advanced.
I graduated from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, have a Master’s Degree in ELL from George Mason University and I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Reading and National Board Certification.
I live in Leesburg with my husband and our two young sons. I look forward to working with the first grade ELL students this year. Please contact me with any questions or concerns at firstname.lastname@example.org
Mrs. Susan Huber - ELL Assistant
I was born in New England, and I attended Mount Ida College, in the field of Art & Design.
After moving to Virginia, I began working with ELL children, with the Loudoun County Public Schools. The cultural experience has been very interesting and fun. I look forward to meeting all the FHR students this year.
My name is Juliet Kanady and I look forward to a wonderful year of teaching ELL students.
I have been an ELL assistant at the high school level for the past three years and now enjoy working with younger students. I received my master's degree at George Mason University, and I received my undergrad at the University of Miami.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at email@example.com, or call me at the school number.
I was born in Brazil and moved to Alexandria, VA with my family when I was six years old. I did not know a word of English but quickly learned the language growing up in Fairfax County Public Schools. I earned my bachelor’s degree from George Mason University and then took some time off to raise my two beautiful girls Julia (14) and Isabela (10). I love working with children that are learning English because I feel that I can relate first hand to what they are going through and I have a good understanding of how to incorporate cultural differences. I love spending time with my family and friends, going to the beach, and enjoying the sunshine. I am excited to begin my second year here at FHR.
Ms. Jessica Pantoja - 4/5 Grade ELL Teacher
Ms. Pantoja was hired mid-year in 2012-2013 as an ELL teacher. Born and raised in California (Los Angeles County), she received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California at Riverside and her multiple subject credential, with an ELL endorsement, from Cal Poly Pomona. She worked as an elementary school teacher for San Bernardino City Unified School District in San Bernardino, CA for four years before moving to Purcellville, VA. Ms. Pantoja has loved working at FHR and has appreciated everyone accepting her with a collaborative spirit. She feels very lucky to have found a school she can already call "home" and looks forward to a terrific school year.
Mrs. Alexis Cleveland - ELL Assistant
Mrs. Cleveland graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. She worked in the telecommunications industry for several years before moving to Virginia and joining Loudoun County Public Schools. She has been an assistant at several schools before joining the FHR staff. She has a lovely family which includes two children who graduated from Potomac Falls High School. She looks forward to meeting and assisting all the English Language Learners at FHR this year.
