Stoltzfus’ Music Notes

Our music program follows the Loudoun County Elementary Music Curriculum, which is aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning and the National Standards for Arts Education.  Music classes are offered to students of all learning modalities in grades one to five that meet twice a week for thirty minutes.

Music activities encompass singing, listening, reading/notating, composing, listening/analyzing, arranging/improvising music, moving and playing classroom instruments. Several grade levels will have the opportunity to participate in program performances.  Fourth graders will begin learning how to play recorders in the spring semester.  Fifth grade students will continue lessons with their recorders starting in the fall. Their music lessons will consist of singing, recorder playing, improvising, composing, use of Orff and other unpitched instruments from various multicultural traditions to create ensemble music.  Our annual All County Chorus Festival will take place in the spring. Three students from fifth grade will be selected through audition to participate in this event being held April 19-20, 2013 at a high school in Loudoun County.
