EMERICK LIBRARY POLICY

Our school library contains approximatedly 20,000 items. Both print and non-print materials are maintained for student and staff use. We have:
 fiction,
 nonfiction,
biography,
reference,
periodical
and professional resources.

In addition, the library provides computer access and we utilize an online catalog.

The online catalog can be accessed from home through the "Emerick Library Catalog" page on this web site.

The library operates a somewhat flexible schedule. Kindergarten has thirty minute sessions and second through fifth grades have forty-five minutes in the library each week.

Teamwork: All classes visit the library weekly, but teachers may schedule additional time with the librarian for research, instruction, projects or stories.

Circulation Policy

Each child is responsible for returning books weekly on library day. Students are asked to return their books before checking out new ones.  The library is open daily in the morning during arrival for daily circulation. This allows students to exchange books on a daily basis, if needed. We want all students to have access to library resources, but we also need to maintain a healthy collection.

How many books can my children checkout?

Kindergarten: Students may check out one book per library visit.
First Grade:  Students may check out 2 books per visit.
Second through Fifth Grades: Students may check out between three-five books per library visit.

Finally, these policies are in place to facilitate our ability to meet the needs of students, parents and staff. If you have a concern however, please feel free to discuss it with our library staff. The staff is committed to serving our learning community!
