Ms. Herndon-Wilson

My name is Diane (Dee Dee) Herndon-Wilson and I am honored to be part of the charter staff at Frederick Douglass Elementary as the assistant principal!  As a life-long resident of Loudoun County and a graduate of Broad Run High School, I am thrilled to be part of a new chapter in our excellent school system that represents the rich history of our county.  This is an exciting opportunity for all of us!

The 2012-2013 school year marks my 15th year in education.  I began my career in Fairfax County teaching 3rd grade.  I then moved to Loudoun County Public Schools to teach Family Life Education (FLE) to fourth and fifth graders.  For the past two years, I have served as the administrative intern at Hutchsion Farm Elementary.  I earned my undergraduate degree from Radford University and completed my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from George Mason University.

I am the proud parent of two boys, Zach, a rising ninth grader, and Jake, a rising fifth grader.  My weekends are spent cheering them on from the sidelines!  I also enjoy playing soccer, watching football and hockey, and spending time with my family and friends.

As we all come together from various backgrounds and life experiences, we should recognize and appreciate the differences in others, and understand that each one of us is just as important as the next.  I look forward to working with the students, families, and staff of Frederick Douglass Elementary as we establish a school culture filled with respect, perseverance, and strong, trusting relationships.  I have a passion for educating and working with young children, and strongly believe that all students can and will succeed!  I am your partner in your child’s education, and please don’t ever hesitate to contact me.  Here’s to new beginnings!
