Kindergarten-2nd Grade Class - Every Monday from 2:45-3:45. Beginning March 11 & finishing May 6.
3rd-5th Grade Class - Every Thursday from 2:45-3:45. Beginning March 14 & finishing May 9.
Both groups need to bring a healthy snack to eat at the beginning of each session.
Fab 5 Programs are written by classroom, physical and health education specialists who deliberately created a fun and motivating curriculum that delivers essential content. Fab 5 programs are ideal for increasing student activity levels and learning content. These programs and easy to follow lessons were developed with classroom teachers and activity leaders in mind.
The Fab 5 Programs:
Are aligned for teachers and after school activity leaders to provide a comprehensive program that includes academic fitness and health content, intentional fitness development and motor skill development
Incorporate vocabulary that is tied to content, which reinforces the understanding of the key concepts
Build an awareness of the lifestyle choices students make regarding nutrition and physical activity
Content areas include: Cardiorespiratory Endurance, Flexibility, Muscular Strength and Endurance, Body Composition, Intensity levels, Respiration, MyPyramid, Cardiovascular Risk Factors, Energy In/Energy Out, Nutrients and Healthy Eating.
The FAB 5 After School Program:
The FAB 5 is a fun and motivating after school program curriculum created by classroom, physical education and health teachers to empower students to become responsible for their own fitness and health. Detailed lessons provide comprehensive activities, fitness and health content, intentional fitness and motor skill development on such things as fundamental nutrition, fitness and health to students. This program is ideal for activity leaders, daycare providers, after school programs, and organized youth programs.
Your Instructor Will Be:
Mrs. Carol Gordon has been an ACE Certified Personal Fitness Trainer for 15 years. She and her husband moved to this area from Cape Cod, MA to be closer to their family-- Jennifer Maulfair in Round Hill and Erik Oblinger in Marlton, NJ. Carol has been employed as a Personal Trainer at Ida Lee Recreation Center for 6 1/2 years and is also a Personal Trainer at the River Creek Community, Leesburg. She has recently completed the Fab 5 training program instituted by the Loudoun County School System.
