Welcome to Fifth Grade!!
Dear students and families,
Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year! I hope that you had a relaxing summer and that you are ready for your last year at Rolling Ridge. Fifth grade is a very challenging year as you prepare for the transition into middle school, but I know that together we will have a great school year. Remember as the oldest and wisest in the school that you are expected to be the example for the younger students, and you will be held to those high expectations every day.
If you have been placed into my homeroom, you will have me for math and science lessons. For the second half of the day, you will be working with another teacher for reading, writing, and social science. This should be familiar to you from last year where you also switched classes. You will continue to have PE, Music, Art, Spanish, and Library each week. In addition, you will also have FLE and DARE at different times of the year.
At the end of the year, you will take SOL tests in writing, math, science, and reading. With hard work from both you and your teachers, you will be prepared to pass your SOL tests when that time comes. While in fifth grade, you will also participate in both DARE graduation and a promotion ceremony.
I look forward to working with each of you! I hope that you are ready for a fun, exciting, and rigorous school year. Remember we are always here to help so feel free to contact me though my school email or by calling the school if you have any questions!
