Also learn more about other enrichment program opportunities for students in October 8, 2008 “The Numbers Don’t Lie – But do they tell us all we need to know?” LEAP will hold an open and transparent forum with participants from both November 12, 2008 “To ‘B’ or Not to ‘B’….That is the Question “ Join our panel of instructional and grading experts and researchers in discussion about the new Fairgrade initiatives taking place in December 10, 2008 “Your Opinion Counts – How to express your opinion properly and effectively to LCPS staff and administration” Learn more from your peers, staff and administration how best to convey your opinions, complaints, concerns and praises to all levels of LCPS, including our School Board representatives. Find out about the “chain of command,” and how best to receive quick and effective answers to your questions. January 14, 2009 “Making Sense of the Senses – How some students process differently” Learn how difficulties in processing and filtering sensory information can affect a student’s behavior and academic success. Find out from experts how processing can impact attention, focus, impulse control and attitude. February 11, 2009 “Read All About it!” LEAP will review our current reading instructional practices, as well as remediation/programs in place to improve reading skills across all grade levels, and special programs for ESL students. March 11, 2009 “The Magnet Program – Positive or Negative?” We’ll find out about the history of the magnet program in the United States, how it is currently used in other school districts nationwide, and about the possibility of Magnet schools in the future of Loudoun County. April 15, 2009 “Think Globally, Study Locally – How will your student spend their Two Million Minutes?” LEAP will have a screening of the documentary on global education, “Two Million Minutes”.
